CINCINNATI, OH – A memorial event for the six month anniversary of Harambe’s tragic death was rudely interrupted by a series of vulgar tweets from President Elect Donald Trump.
The service, hosted by Harambe’s wife Gladys, was meant to be a peaceful celebration of the life of a national hero. Hundreds flocked to the service, held at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, where friends and loved ones could share stories about the beloved gorilla. Caterers provided a wide variety of food, from raw meat to leafy greens, in order to satisfy the array of animals and humans in attendance.

Gladys even gave a heartwarming speech about her late husband. She stated that he lived a long and fruitful life, and that she bore no ill will towards the zoo officials that made the controversial decision to shoot.
“It was a misunderstanding,” she said to the crowd, wiping away enormous tears. “Any parent knows the fear, when your little one is in danger. This was an act of compassion for the life of the child that fell in the enclosure, not an act of aggression against my husband. I hope all of you can see it that way as well.”
However, only moments after she’d finished her nationally televised speech, word spread among the attendees that Trump had taken to Twitter, insulting the widow.

The backlash was immediate, as thousands tweeted angrily at Trump with the hashtag #naturallybeautiful and #GladysIsGorgeous. However, Trump refused to apologize, instead continuing his tirade against her.
Minutes later, his first tweet was deleted, and he posted a follow-up.
The tweets only got nastier from there. However, Gladys appeared unfazed by the news, insisting that people put away their phones.
“This service is about Harambe. We’re here to share love, not read about hate. I appreciate the support, but you didn’t come here to get into a twitter war with a colossal fuckwad. You came here to honor a great gorilla.”
Trumps barrage of Tweets continued throughout the night. Some of the most prominent are below:
